HBO y Netflix empatan en la cima de los premios Emmy 2018

Varias sorpresas trajo consigo la 70ª edición de los premios Emmy, donde HBO y Netflix -una de las batallas más competitivas en esta era dorada de la televisión- empataron en el número de premiaciones.

Si bien el servicio de streaming había batido récord de nominaciones (123), superando por primera vez a HBO (108), en cuanto a premios ambas cadenas se llevaron 23 estatuillas.

Sin embargo, la Academia le sigue negando a Netflix los premios grandes: The Crown se llevó cinco estatuillas, Black Mirror cuatro y Godless tres. Sin embargo, el mejor drama quedó para HBO, la mejor comedia para Amazon y la mejor miniserie para FX Networks.

Precisamente, Game of Thrones recuperó la corona con su séptima temporada, tras pasar un año sin presentarse -donde The Handmaid’s Tale dio el batacazo en 2017-. Con esta estatuilla a mejor drama, la historia creada por George R.R. Martin se convierte en la serie más premiada de la historia, con 47 Emmys.

En mejor comedia, no compitió la aclamada Veep -debido al retraso de su producción por enfermedad de su protagonista, Julia Louis-Dreyfus-. El premio se lo quedó la serie creada por Amy Sherman-Palladino para Amazon, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, que también dejó atrás a Atlanta, Silicon Valley y Curb Your Enthusiasm en mejor dirección, mejor guion y mejores actrices principal y secundario.
