Adolescente activista por la emergencia climática, Greta Thunberg, vendrá a la COP25 en un barco de carreras

La mañana de este lunes, la activista medioambientalista sueca Greta Thunberg (16) comentó que asistirá a la Conferencia de las Partes (COP25) de las Naciones Unidas, a realizarse en Chile, a bordo de un barco de carreras.

Esta cumbre sobre el cambio climático se realizará en diciembre y reunirá a empresarios, políticos, fundaciones, activistas e instituciones provenientes de todo el mundo y de todos los sectores.

Thunberg eligió este medio de transporte ecológico, dado que se niega volar en avión, debido a su alto impacto para el medio ambiente por las emisiones. En específico, la embarcación escojida es una nave de carreras de 60 pies bautizada como Malizia II.

La joven también adelantó que a mediados de agosto zarpará desde Reino Unido con dirección a Nueva York, Estado Unidos, a través del Océano Atlantico. Allí asitirá a la Cumbre de Acción Climática a realizarse en septiembre en esa ciudad.

Igualmente, la adolescente informó que asistira a «otros eventos en el camino», antes de su arribo a Chile para participar de la COP25, que comienza el 2 de diciembre y se extiende hasta el 13 de diciembre.

«Junto con muchos otros jóvenes de América y el mundo, estaré allí, aunque el viaje sea largo y desafiante. Haremos oír nuestras voces. Es nuestro futuro, y debemos tener algo que decir al respecto. La ciencia es clara y todo lo que los niños estamos haciendo es comunicar y actuar sobre esa ciencia. Nuestra demanda es que el mundo se una a lo que dice la ciencia», comentó Thunberg.

We’ll be sailing across the Atlantic Ocean from the UK to New York in mid August.‬ The science is clear. Over the next months, the events in New York and Santiago de Chile will show if they have listened. Together with many other young people across the Americas and the world, I will be there, even if the journey will be long and challenging. We will make our voices heard. It is our future on the line, and we must at least have a say in it. The science is clear and all we children are doing is communicating and acting on that united science.
